Gaze detection and the response procedure between human and social agent.
Eye contact means the state in which two people are aware of
looking directly into one another's eyes. For making eye contact, both parties
need to look at each other. So awareness is necessary for eye contact.
Bidirectional eye contact means if any person wants to communicate with another
one then he/she will look at the person and the other one will look at that
person after being aware of this. In human Agent communication, eye contact is
necessary. Without eye contact human can’t communicate with the agent or agent
will not aware of the presence of the human. Our goal is to design a social
agent which can make eye contact with the one who wants to communicate with it.
Then if the person smiles then the agent will mimic the smile and utters hello
as a greeting term. In this thesis, we developed a social Agent with facial
expression. We evaluated eye blinking, smile, reference term for making our
Agent more humanoid. For this we performed subjective evaluation. Taking the
data from the participants we designed the overall system. They found the
system interesting. After overall system evaluation we found the accuracy of
our system is 70%.
